A ceiling that wasn’t level, and a curtain line that is
The job
A young couple in tech, doing up their first home. Practical before precious, and a child to plan around.
Complete soft furnishings for the 3 BHK, plus space planning for the living room. Washable, hard-wearing fabrics throughout, proper blackout in the bedrooms, and a world-map wallpaper in the child’s room with patterned Roman blinds to go with it.
What it looks like
Soft sage, warm white and light grey. Performance fabrics that take a family, layered curtains for the light. The child’s room is the one place that plays — a map wall and a patterned blind, stopping short of a themed room.
What we had to sort out
The ceiling was not the same height across the window span. Tracked from the ceiling as planned, the curtain drop came out visibly uneven — the hem rising and falling along the wall.
So the brackets moved off the ceiling and onto the wall, set to one level, and the track was concealed behind a pelmet. The brackets are out of sight and the curtains fall in one line. The quality of a soft-furnishing job is mostly in what you never notice.
Twenty-five days from first measurement to handover.

Before. A largely unfinished flat with builder’s window coverings and no thread running between the rooms.
After. Layered curtains and practical blinds, bedrooms that go dark, a living room that has been planned rather than filled, and a child’s room with a map on the wall.
