Which one do you need?
“The living room echoes”
Tile and glass with nothing soft between them. A rug under the seating and curtains at the window together make a bigger difference to how a room sounds than either does alone.
“What size rug do I need?”
Big enough that at least the front legs of every sofa and chair sit on it. A rug that floats in the middle with all the furniture off it makes the room look smaller, which is the usual mistake.
“The rug slides on my tiles”
Anti-slip underlay. It also stops the edges curling, which is what people actually trip on.
“We have a toddler and a dog”
Don’t buy hand-knotted yet. A flat, machine-made rug in a mid-tone pattern hides a great deal and can be replaced without regret in a few years.
“It’s for an office floor”
Carpet tiles rather than broadloom. When a chair castor or a coffee spill ruins one square you replace that square, not the room.
